I came across this picture of The Grand Canyon. Linda and I were there in March of 2013 and as I looked at the picture, I thought 'mousey.' It was overcast and light source was what it was. The picture brought nice memories of our time there, but I thought that if we were there later in the year, it would look differently.
This is the original picture.
This is the picture, with adjustment in Photoshop Elements, based on my imagination.
This picture is with adjustment in Lightroom 5. When I look at this photo, my eyes are drawn to the complete scene. Not to get 'gushy,' but I see the rock structure, the colors, the snow, the trees, the depth, and for me, I see the memory of being there with Linda.
Now, to the Black and White version. This is the same photo, but converted to Black and White, with other adjustments.
Guess where my eyes are drawn? To the rock out-cropping in the front left. This does not make me 'gush,' but it is the subject of the photo. I have had many thoughts regarding it and the one that stands out is ...
What are your thoughts about it? Go beyond the fact that it is Black and White.

Aw, that's a very sweet memory!
ReplyDeleteI too like both black & white and color pictures... but i think when it comes to scenery, i like color better... I like black & white pictures of people... i love the 2nd picture on this entry best!
