We went to an Aran Island today. We were planning to go to the smallest of the islands, but we ended up on the larger of the three islands, Irishmore. We spent most of our time climbing up to the Dun Aengus fort, which is surrounded by three sides by high stone walls and by cliffs on the fourth side, which remind me of 'The Guns of Navarone.
The two photos of the thatched roofs show the difference between up keep versus not. The thatched roof that is not kept up, will rot and decay and ultimately collapse.
