We went to Glenlo Abbey in Galway, which has been converted to a resort with golf course.  The interior is elegant, the grounds are beautiful, and there are three railroad dining cars use as a second restaurant. 








In the afternoon, we went to a nearby town to look around.  The "art-work" picture is an old garage door with many coats of peeling paint.  The church is a very, very old Church of Ireland church.  There was one gravestone dated 1895 and many more with the engraving worn off, which leads me to believe that they we much older.









Then we found Dunguaire Castle.  There are quite a few of them in Ireland.  Most of them are decayed or skeletals.  Along the way, there have been building with thatched roofs.  If the thatch is no kept up, it rots and gets saturated with water.  The underpinning will then rot on the the roof is n more...
